About this Role

UNRWA Syria is seeking an Information Systems Officer (Daily Paid) to support the management and maintenance of UNRWA's information and communications technology infrastructure in Damascus. The Information Systems Officer will ensure the reliable operation of IT systems supporting UNRWA's humanitarian operations across Syria.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain UNRWA's local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), and server infrastructure in Damascus
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for hardware, software, and network issues for UNRWA staff
  • Administer user accounts, access permissions, and IT security protocols in line with UNRWA policies
  • Support the installation, configuration, and maintenance of IT equipment including computers, servers, and peripherals
  • Maintain system documentation, IT asset inventory, and service records
  • Ensure data backup procedures are followed and business continuity plans are maintained
  • Liaise with UNRWA's regional IT team and external vendors for technical support and procurement
  • Provide IT training and orientation to new and existing UNRWA staff

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related technical field
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in IT systems administration or network management
  • Strong knowledge of networking protocols, server administration (Windows/Linux), and IT security practices
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365, Active Directory, and virtualisation technologies
  • Good English and Arabic communication skills
  • Relevant professional certifications (CCNA, MCSA, CompTIA) are an asset
  • Palestinian refugee registered with UNRWA is preferred for this position
