Education and Protection Specialist for Syria

People in Need (PIN) is seeking an Education and Protection Specialist to strategically lead PIN's Syria Education programme. Based in Damascus, the specialist will ensure overall quality of Education in Emergencies (EiE) programming and act as a focal point for protection and Gender Equality, and Social Inclusion (GESI) mainstreaming in Syria.

Contract: 12 months with possibility of extension | Starting date: June 2026

Key Responsibilities

• Lead development of PIN Syria's strategic pillar on Human Capital and Education Systems
• Ensure overall quality of EiE programme in all PIN's areas of operation in Syria
• Set strategic directions, design new projects, and represent PIN in relevant sectoral networks including the Education Cluster
• Act as focal point for protection and GESI mainstreaming across PIN Syria programmes
• Participate in identifying new funding opportunities and contribute to proposal development
• Support strategic approach to partnerships and locally-led action for the Education programme
• Provide technical guidance to integrating education and child protection programming through partnerships and capacity strengthening

Requirements

• Master's degree in Education, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or related field
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Education in Emergencies or humanitarian programme management
• Strong knowledge of EiE minimum standards (INEE) and child protection frameworks
• Experience in proposal writing, donor reporting, and resource mobilisation
• Excellent English skills; Arabic is an asset
• Prior experience working in Syria or Middle East humanitarian contexts preferred
• Willingness to travel within Syria and the region
