About this Role

MAG (Mines Advisory Group), co-recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, is seeking a Standards and Training Manager (STM) for its Syria programme. The STM will manage and develop technical training and standards across all field operations including EOD and mine clearance, and provide logistical and administrative support to the Technical Operations Manager.

Starting salary: £84,636 GBP / approx. $114,300 USD including all allowances. This role is subject to funding.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop technical training and standards across the Syria programme for all field operations and equipment
  • Manage the Standards and Training Team and coordinate training management practices and plans
  • Implement and maintain a comprehensive Quality Management System to ensure operational effectiveness
  • Conduct incident and accident investigations and prepare comprehensive reports in compliance with MAG's Global Technical Standards
  • Provide logistical and administrative support to the Technical Operations Manager
  • Support safe expansion of MAG's initiatives across Syria based on emerging opportunities
  • Deputise for the Technical Operations Manager when required

Requirements

  • EOD 3 and IEDD qualified (essential)
  • Proven experience in mine clearance and EOD operations in developing or conflict-affected countries
  • Experience managing field clearance operations
  • Background in implementing and monitoring quality assurance processes for compliance with international standards
  • Experience designing, developing, and delivering formal or informal technical training
  • Ability to think strategically and champion high standards
  • Willingness to work in remote areas in challenging contexts
