About this Role

Action Against Hunger (ACF) is seeking a Country Representative to lead its Syria mission, providing strategic direction for ACF's humanitarian and recovery operations across the country. The Country Representative is responsible for overall programme quality, donor relations, security, and team leadership, and represents ACF to the international humanitarian community in Syria.

Responsibilities

  • Define and implement ACF Syria's country strategy aligned with global priorities
  • Provide senior leadership to a large and diverse team across multiple bases
  • Lead donor engagement, fundraising, and high-value proposal development
  • Represent ACF at country-level coordination mechanisms, UN clusters, and government forums
  • Oversee security management and organisational risk mitigation
  • Ensure programme quality, compliance, and accountability to affected populations
  • Manage the country budget and ensure financial sustainability of the mission

Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years humanitarian or development experience with 4+ years at country director/representative level
  • Demonstrated experience in complex, insecure environments
  • Exceptional donor relations and fundraising track record
  • Strong representational and diplomatic skills
  • Fluent English required; French an asset (ACF working language)
  • Prior Syria or Middle East experience highly desirable
