About this Role

Relief International seeks a Protection Officer for its northwest Syria programme, based in Khan Shaykhun or Kafrnobol with 50% travel across Idlib and Aleppo governorates. The role involves developing and overseeing protection, GBV prevention, and psychosocial support activities while managing protection staff and ensuring quality case management.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and supervise daily protection activities and establish workplans
  • Coordinate referral pathways and manage community-based protection committees
  • Oversee Social Assistants and PSS Assistants; prepare schedules and manage attendance
  • Deliver regular coaching on GBV and protection principles to staff
  • Monitor case management and ensure adherence to safeguarding standards
  • Represent Relief International in coordination meetings and with stakeholders
  • Ensure secure storage of case files and coordinate with M&E teams
  • Provide weekly and monthly progress reports

Requirements

  • Degree in law, social work, human rights, sociology, or psychology
  • Minimum 2 years NGO/INGO protection sector experience with vulnerable women and girls
  • Knowledge of GBV prevention and case management principles
  • Fluent Arabic — verbal and written (required)
  • English proficiency desirable
  • Ability to work independently under pressure in a challenging environment
  • Supervisory experience preferred
