About this Role

NRC Syria seeks a WASH Specialist to deliver technical oversight and strategic direction for water, sanitation, and hygiene interventions across Syria. The role emphasizes quality implementation, governance improvements, and development of the country WASH strategy while mentoring staff and representing NRC in coordination meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical direction ensuring quality WASH implementation across all projects
  • Lead proposal development, budgets, and project reviews with strategic guidance
  • Develop programming addressing durable solutions, governance, and climate resilience
  • Support monitoring and evaluation efforts using NRC's GORS platform
  • Conduct technical assessments and needs assessments in the field
  • Represent NRC within WASH sector coordination, with donors and government ministries
  • Promote synergies between WASH and other NRC programmes
  • Ensure Safe and Inclusive Programming integration across all activities

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years humanitarian or recovery sector experience
  • Minimum 5 years WASH experience including 2 years at senior level
  • Advanced degree preferred or significant WASH field experience
  • Experience in complex, volatile contexts; Syria/Middle East background an asset
  • Understanding of Sphere and other core humanitarian standards
  • Water governance and cost recovery model experience
  • Humanitarian cluster/sector coordination experience
  • Fluent English; Arabic knowledge beneficial
