About SYCAC

SYCAC is a non-profit, non-governmental civil society organization established in Turkey in 2012. It aims to increase civic spaces to play an active role in peace processes and early recovery of communities by empowering, protecting, and building community capacities, as well as enhancing the leadership role of women and marginalized groups, to achieve communities that embrace the principle of democracy and human rights.

Objective of the Position

As part of a peacebuilding initiative, SYCAC is recruiting nine Area Focal Points — one per governorate — to serve as the primary field presence and liaison between SYCAC's central team and local stakeholders. Each Area Focal Point will facilitate, coordinate, and monitor project activities in their assigned governorate, ensuring smooth implementation, timely reporting, and adherence to organizational standards.

Scope of Work

Field Implementation & Coordination

  • Facilitate, coordinate, and follow up on project activities in the assigned governorate, including community dialogue sessions, capacity-building workshops, and consultations.
  • Identify, mobilize, and maintain relationships with local stakeholders, including civil society organizations, community/peace groups, local leaders, and relevant local authorities.
  • Maintain regular follow-up with community peace groups in the assigned area.
  • Support the logistics of field activities, including participant outreach, venue arrangements, and materials distribution.

Monitoring & Reporting

  • Collect and document monitoring data, activity reports, and field information in line with SYCAC's monitoring and evaluation framework.
  • Provide regular updates on the security situation, local context, and any challenges affecting implementation.
  • Submit monthly field reports and deliverables according to the agreed schedule.

Coordination & Compliance

  • Participate in coordination meetings and briefings with SYCAC's team as required.
  • Ensure all activities are implemented in accordance with SYCAC's Code of Conduct, Do No Harm principles, safeguarding standards, and donor requirements.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding project participants, beneficiaries, and data, and promptly declare any conflict of interest to SYCAC management.

Deliverables (Monthly)

  • Field activity report covering all activities facilitated or supported during the month.
  • Monitoring data and attendance records for project activities.
  • Security and context update for the assigned governorate.
  • Any additional documentation requested by SYCAC's Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) team.

Required Qualifications

  • University degree in social sciences, development studies, peace and conflict studies, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in field coordination, community engagement, or civil society work.
  • Strong knowledge of the local context and key stakeholders in the governorate applied for.
  • Experience working with civil society organizations, local authorities, or community groups.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and reporting skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Commitment to neutrality, Do No Harm, gender sensitivity, and inclusion.
  • Fluency in Arabic required; knowledge of local dialects is an advantage.
