Local Project Coordinator in Syria (f/m/d), DW Akademie

DW Akademie is looking to engage a Project Coordinator to be based in Syria to support and coordinate all activities taking place in the country.

The project "Fill the Space" seeks to strengthen local media capacities, enhance fact-checking practices, and promote awareness-raising initiatives to counter disinformation in Syria. The project is structured around three main areas of work: support to SANA and up to 10 local media outlets, including capacity development and practical media-support measures; a fact-checking fellowship and coaching programme for Syrian fact checkers, including follow-up activities and community-level knowledge transfer; and awareness-raising initiatives with civil society actors to promote media and information literacy and strengthen resilience against disinformation and hate speech.

The project combines on-the-ground activities with online initiatives, covers different regions within Syria, and is committed to ethnic and gender diversity in order to promote inclusive participation and representation across different communities, as well as between in-country and exile-based organizations.

The position will last for approximately 9 months – intended contract start is August 1, 2026 until April 30, 2027. It is planned as full-time position (equivalent to a maximum of 171 days for the total duration of the action).
