Psychosocial Support Officer — Deir ez-Zor
About this Role
Relief International is seeking a Psychosocial Support (PSS) Officer to lead the implementation of PSS activities in Deir ez-Zor. The PSS Officer will work with conflict-affected communities, providing structured PSS services, individual case support, and building the capacity of community volunteers and PSS assistants.
Responsibilities
- Plan, implement, and supervise group PSS activities (structured and non-structured) for adults, adolescents, and children in targeted communities in Deir ez-Zor
- Identify individuals requiring individual PSS support or clinical mental health referral and follow up cases appropriately
- Build the capacity of PSS assistants and community volunteers through training, coaching, and regular supervision
- Conduct community outreach and awareness-raising activities on mental health and psychosocial wellbeing
- Maintain accurate case records, session reports, and activity data in compliance with data protection standards
- Coordinate closely with protection, health, and community engagement teams for integrated case management
- Participate in PSS and MHPSS working group meetings and contribute to sector coordination
- Contribute to weekly and monthly programme reports
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Education, or a related field
- Minimum 2 years of experience implementing PSS or MHPSS programmes in humanitarian settings
- Strong facilitation and communication skills; experience running group activities
- Knowledge of PSS principles, Do No Harm, and protection mainstreaming
- Good Arabic communication skills; basic English is an advantage
- Ability and willingness to travel to field sites in Deir ez-Zor governorate
- Syrian national required for this position
