About this Role

UNDP Syria seeks a Communications and Advocacy Specialist (NPSA-10) to plan and manage communications and advocacy strategies for a UN Joint Programme addressing Syria's humanitarian and recovery needs. The role bridges programmatic work with public communication, donor engagement, and policy advocacy at national and international levels.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement communications and advocacy strategies for the UN Joint Programme
  • Produce high-quality content including press releases, stories, reports, and social media materials
  • Manage media relations and respond to journalist enquiries
  • Design and produce visual materials using Adobe Creative Cloud tools
  • Coordinate communications with UN agency partners and government counterparts
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of communications activities
  • Support donor visibility and reporting requirements

Requirements

  • University degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or related field
  • Minimum 5–7 years experience in communications, preferably within the UN system or international NGOs
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro)
  • Demonstrated ability to produce compelling content for diverse audiences
  • Fluent Arabic and English — both written and verbal required
  • Knowledge of Syria's political and humanitarian context preferred
