About this Role

UNICEF Syria seeks a Consultant to develop a comprehensive Climate Landscape Analysis for Children (CLAC) focusing on WASH, examining climate and environmental trends and their implications for children's rights and UNICEF programming in Syria. The consultancy is 2 months in duration and can be conducted on-site in Damascus with some remote work flexibility.

Responsibilities

  • Review and analyse existing literature on climate change impacts in Syria, particularly on WASH infrastructure and access
  • Assess how climate trends affect children's access to safe water and sanitation
  • Map institutional frameworks, policy gaps, and partner capacity related to climate-WASH nexus
  • Develop the full CLAC report with actionable recommendations for UNICEF programme adaptation
  • Present findings to UNICEF Syria and government stakeholders
  • Propose indicators for integrating climate considerations into UNICEF's WASH programming

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in environmental science, climate studies, WASH, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years experience in climate analysis or WASH in fragile/MENA contexts
  • Strong research, data analysis, and technical writing skills
  • Familiarity with UNICEF programme frameworks and climate-WASH intersections
  • Fluent English required; Arabic an asset
